Posted March 10, 2020 16:37:55 A Thai restaurant in Bangkok has come up with a tasty treat, one that’s sure to have everyone in the city licking their chops.
The restaurant, which opened in February, has just launched a new special for guests to try and get a taste of the local style, fried rice with sweet, sour and spicy sauce.
Owner and chef Nomsi Thongpaisan said it was the first time she had been able to put her hand to the plate to prepare such a dish, which is also known as khao mai.
“I’m a very big fan of Thai food, and I love fried rice and Thai curry,” she said.
She said the sauce she used for the dish was inspired by the Thai word khao meaning “rice”.
“It’s a sweet and sour sauce made from Thai green onions and chili peppers,” she explained.
“The taste of it is like a bowl of rice, with the sauce filling in the middle.
The ingredients are all natural, like Thai curry and green onions.”
Thailand is a popular destination for travellers and locals alike, with many restaurants catering to both tourists and locals.
In the meantime, Ms Thongmaan said her goal was to offer something new to visitors.
“Our goal is to be the best restaurant in Thailand, but we also want to bring a unique taste to visitors,” she added.
For now, she is focusing on her own catering business and is also working on developing her food and drink portfolio, including her own fried chicken and sour and sweet sauce.
The special is also available to order via the restaurant’s Facebook page, where diners can buy a bowl or two for less than $30.
If you are a regular visitor to Bangkok, please stop by and try the new special.
